Well, the fishing has been great on days when the wind and cold allow for good casting. In spite of record cold nights (3 or 4) days of it. We have had excellent hatches of Grey drakes/western March Browns and Blue winged olives. Skwalas are still taking many Large fish. The second push of skwalas is imminent with any warming we might get. The caddis are starting to be a player as well. The rivers are in amazing shape for this time of year and the fish are totally keyed in on the bugs. Some of the best dry fly fishing is right now!
The last several trips have been very good with a couple of amazing days on the Bitterroot.
Beautifully colored up male.
This cutty fell for one of my cdc drake patterns.
This bug has been working really well as of late.
Here is one gorgeous Cutthroat that fell of the above drake pattern. We don't see many pure looking cutthroats that reach this size.
As things warm up the fishing should stay outstanding but will be much more comfortable than it was a few of those mornings. Spring is back and the fish are feeding hard.
